Day 1:

Depart USA.

Overnight flight to Vienna.

Day 2:

Arrive to Vienna (3 nights)

Welcome to Imperial Vienna, the capital of Austria. After check-in there’s time to relax and unwind before meeting your Tour Director and fellow traveling companions for a Welcome Drink and to hear more about your tour program.

Day 3:

Vienna Sightseeing and Vienna Woods Excursion

Your morning sightseeing tour with a local expert guide features the monuments and palaces of this musical city. The Imperial Boulevards lead you to the Opera House, the Hofburg Palace, the Parliament and St. Stephen’s Cathedral.

Your walking tour will show you the oldest parts of the city near ‘Am Hof’. Later, free time to indulge in some Sachertorte and cream in a tempting pastry shop!

This afternoon a scenic drive takes you into the nearby Vienna Woods where a stop is made in Mayerling to see the hunting lodge where Crown Prince Rudolph and his young mistress died in 1898. At Heiligenkrenz stop to visit the Abbey of the Holy Cross.

Tonight enjoy a Highlight Dinner with wine together in a local restaurant.

Day 4:

Vienna at leisure

A completely free day at leisure for you to do as you wish. After breakfast you may decide to utilize your complimentary ‘hop-on hop-off’ sightseeing ticket or simply relax at the hotel.

Your Tour Director will provide you with a variety of suggestions on how to spend this leisurely day.

Salzburg Castle

Day 5:

Vienna – Salzkammergut – Salzburg (2 nights)

Today drive along the Wachau Valley which takes you past Melk where you will see Austria’s greatest Baroque Abbey. From here continue to the area known as the Salzkammergut.

At Gmunden, with its beautiful lakeside Château, enjoy a tranquil and scenic drive along the shores of the Traunsee and the Attersee which is the largest lake in the Austrian Alps.

Stop in the village of Mondsee to see the Church where the marriage of Captain Von Trapp and Maria was filmed for ‘The Sound of Music’. Finally reach the beautiful city of Salzburg.

Day 6:

Salzburg sightseeing at leisure

Today’s morning walking tour with a local expert guide shows you the Getreidegasse with its colourful shops, the majestic Cathedral and many of the locations used in the film ‘The Sound of Music’.

This was also the birthplace of the great composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Later, you may wish to relax in one of the delightful coffee-houses or shop in the chic boutiques.

This evening you will enjoy a ‘Be My Guest’ dinner in a local Austrian Gasthof.

Day 7:

Salzburg – Berchtesgaden – Innsbruck

This morning after breakfast it’s only a short drive into Bavaria to the National Park of Berchtesgaden. Stop in the town before leaving Germany to re-enter Austria and the province of Tyrol.

From here continue past the Wilder Kaiser Mountains to the valley of the green River Inn, bringing you to the Alpine resort that grew up around the bridge over the Inn – Innsbruck. Here your Tour Director shows you the Wilten Basilica, the Golden Roof and the Hofburg Palace.

Later, perhaps enjoy a Tyrolean folklore show.

Day 8:

Neuschwanstein Castle
Munich (2 nights)

This morning after breakfast return to the Bavarian mountains and Germany’s most famous building – mad King Ludwig’s Neuschwanstein Castle. Go up to the castle by horse and carriage and have a guided tour of its interior.

Afterwards, it is only a short drive to the Passion Play village of Oberammergau. Here there is time to admire the many ornate wall-paintings on the village houses and to visit the Passion Play before arrival in fun-loving Munich.

Tonight, why not get together with your fellow traveling companions and enjoy a few steins of beer in one of the many beer halls.

Day 9:

Munich orientation and at leisure

AAfter breakfast head out on your morning orientation tour which will show you the Hofbräuhaus, the Marienplatz with its Glockenspiel, and the majestic Opera House.

Then time at leisure before enjoying a Farewell Dinner with your Tour Director and fellow travelers this evening.

Day 10:

Munich – USA

There is time to bid farewell to your touring friends as your vacation comes to an end. Airport transfers are available. Conditions apply.

  • Airport Transfers On arrival at Vienna airport transfers will operate at 09.00, 12.00 and 15.00. Passengers arriving later should make their own way to the first hotel. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Zurich Airport at 08.00.
  • Airport Transfers Transfers on arrival at Munich Airport will operate at 10.00 and 13.00. Passengers arriving later should make their own way to the first hotel. Return transfers from the last hotel will arrive at Munich Airport at 09.30.
